Introduction to the program
The annual Summer Short-Term Chinese Language Program of BNU is opening now! Teaching in different levels and small-class is the feature of our program. Highly experienced and fully professional teachers in The College of Chinese Language and Culture (TCCLC) of BNU will make you improve your communicative capability rapidly within the short-term. The program provides a edutainment and student-centered teaching strategy that can make you recognize the interests of learning Chinese and, at same time, improve your communicative capability.

II. Duration of the program
Class A: July 1st – July 19th (Three weeks)
Class B: July 1st – July 26th (Four weeks)
Class C: July 1st – August 16th (Seven weeks)
Class D: July 1st – August 23rd (Eight weeks)
Class E: July 29th – August 16th (Three weeks)
Class F: July 29th – August 23rd (Four weeks)
There are several programs you can choose according to your own schedule: from three to eight weeks’ programs start either in July or August.
III. Course Introduction
A. Class placementThe Summer Program offers three main levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Based on the results of the oral placement test, each student will be assigned to his/her specific level within these main levels; for instance, the beginner level may be further divided into Absolute Beginner, Intermediate Beginner, Advanced Beginner, and so forth. Each class consists of approximately 15 students.
B. Class Arrangements
There are two courses (Reading & Writing and Listening & Speaking) in each level, as well as Chinese culture classes offered twice a week. Chinese culture classes include Experiencing Chinese Culture (involving calligraphy, Chinese painting, Chinese music, paper cutting, and so on) and Chinese Kung-Fu.

E. Assignments and Grading
1. Each teacher will assign written or oral homework, in-class dictation, in-class quizzes, etc. based on their class requirements. Student scores on these assignments will be used to calculate each student’s Assignments grade.
2. Grading structure: Attendance 10% + Participation 20% + Assignments 70%. The grading system is based on percentage points, which can be converted into another grading system in the case of special requirements from a students’ home university.
Chinese Culture Courses Fees
This year's summer program offers two extracurricular Chinese Culture courses, which students may choose to take according to individual interest.
1. Chinese Cultural Experience
This course includes instruction and training in such subjects as calligraphy, Chinese painting, Chinese food cooking, Chinese music, and so on, allowing students to experience Chinese culture firsthand.
Tuition Fee: ¥30 /class period, two class periods per week.
Three weeks/¥180, Four weeks/¥240, Seven weeks/¥420, Eight weeks/¥480
2.Chinese Kung-Fu
Tuition Fee: ¥30 /class period, two class periods per week.
