I entered the university with to understand Economics and its obscurities which drives every decision made by an individual or organization in the world. I have wondered how decision made by individuals, firms and government has such a great effect, affecting every facet of human life. In sum I call this the brains behind great decision. The option to explore and understand why countries or individual always have to make a rational choice between two equally important issues whereas they can obtain both took strong stance in my life. For instance, why countries have to make a choice between saving and spending to achieve economic development or why an individual will opt for a mortgage over a rented apartment. Also how some countries have moved from stagnation to growth and other remain. It is was due to this unduly curiosity and intense enthusiasm that incited the zeal to read more about Economics and its effect on humanity and related issues like education, growth, balance of payment, inflation, unemployment, health and poverty that has trigged me hence the need to pursue a Masters degree in Economics.
I have chosen to study Economics because it requires logical reasoning as well as a good mathematical background which are the major tools for the basic understanding and appreciation of the field. The scope and rational of what, how and for whom helps build a good premises of understanding the dynamics of the world and how it works. From the allocation of resource to the zest of utilization are daily encounter that are ever-present and part of our life. It will therefore pay to have an in-depth knowledge in this field. My immense love for Economics has made me devote immediate past years to reading and succeeding in this subject. I have strong foundation and requisite credentials that will enable me excel in this field of study. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts with Second Class Upper Honors in Economics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Additionally, I have a wide research experience in Economics which increase my knowledge of data manipulation, analysis and interpretation. I am proficient in Econometrics, Advanced Economic theories, Statistics, Research and mathematical modelling and have an in depth analytical ability in Labor Economics theories.
I am optimistic that pursuing a Master in Economics at BEIJING NORMAL UNIVERSITY fits perfectly into my career path. I hope to be a global participant of economic decision making body with the focus on facilitating economic development and solving specific issues of poverty, inequality and expand the real freedoms of individuals especially in my home country, Ghana and Africa at large. This forms a major scope to transform and establish economies specifically underdeveloped countries. My interest is to find answers to the questions of why and be a part of transforming most countries from stagnation to growth and above all be a model and global icon to my generation with regards to Economics.
Currently, I am a Teaching and Research Assistant in Labor Economics. This has played a significant role in appreciation and understanding Economics in a more different angle. It has enhanced my scope of knowledge, research and skill introduced me to economic analysis and theories.
